Adult Programs
What follows is not intended to be a comprehensive description of UUFC's programs for adults. Rather, its purpose it to provide a flavor of the kinds of activities that are available. For information about what's on our schedule now and in the coming months, go to "What's Happening" on the menu on the left and look at "UUFC Calendar," "Events Summary," and "Newsletters."
Music Opportunities
Music involves the entire congregation of the Fellowship, not simply guest musicians, soloists, and the choir. Virtually all services contain music, and everyone is encouraged to engage and join--in unison or in harmony.
Like to sing? Consider joining the UUFC Choir to sing repertoire ranging from African chants to Bach cantatas. No auditions are necessary and you need not read music, simply show up and commit a few hours a week to harmony. Choir membership is a commitment to Wednesday night rehearsals and contributing to worship services two or three Sundays a month.
Do you play an instrument? Instrumentalists regularly enhance worship services and social events with their talents so perhaps you can be part of a worship service or special program. Contact the Music Director.
Not a musician, but a music lover? Consider joining us to support the choir and the music program by helping plan, organize benefit concerts, social events, and after-rehearsal snacks, coordinate rides for singers and musicians, help file music, or enter information in the music database.
The Fellowship sponsors the Corvallis Community Choir, which welcomes singers of all ages and abilities to its Monday night rehearsals and sing-along sessions. The Community Choir specializes in familiar favorites and special arrangements of old tunes. It's a great place to hone your music skills and warm up your vocal cords.
Social Opportunities
UUs are sociable by nature so many one-time events spring into being because we like to get together! Some examples that are a part of our history are, Waldo Lake Campout, Labor Day Tuna Roast, Fest Event (Thanksgiving dinner preceded by a soccer game and sherry hour), and New Years Eve Party. These and other social events depend on the energy of willing hearts and hands. These are an easy way to join in on a one-time event! Other social events, occasional, seasonal, or ongoing, are identified below. Also, please consider the many volunteer opportunities in our section on "Commmittees/Volunteers"
- Aerobics
- Keep your body fit! Gentle aerobics are pursued every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4-5 pm in the Social Hall. Fees depend on attendance. Men and women are welcome.
- Mens Retreat
- The Mens Retreat is held each fall for UU men.
- Services Auction
- The annual spring Services Auction is a major social event, and it is an important community builder when donor and purchaser meet. Donors are encouraged to give of themselves in time, expertise, personal passion, and/or creativity. We need 80-100 donations plus people to attend and bid on items they desire.
